Soleic was developed by Algenesis, a materials science company founded in 2016 with a vision to help the planet recover from the pollution caused by petroleum-based products.
With decades of scientific expertise, co-founders Dr. Stephen Mayfield, Dr. Robert Pomeroy, and Dr. Michael Burkhart set out to tackle this problem in the lab. Their dedicated research resulted in fully biodegradable polymer technology that has the potential to transform entire industries.
The idea from the lab grew into an innovative business, and with the backing of investors, we have built out the team and developed our own proof-of-concept Blueview Shoe in 2022.
Our impact is growing as we join forces with remarkable partners across the globe, leading the movement towards a microplastic-free world.

Tackling one of the biggest environmental problems of our time requires a lot of hard work in the lab and perseverance. But we also believe in balancing this out with fun, whether this means getting out on our surfboards, cleaning up the beach, or hiking in the beautiful nature around our offices in San Diego.
